Wicklow Sailing Club & i3 Digital hit the waves and set sail Round Ireland

Date: 15.05.2012

A new cutting edge website has been launched for the Round Ireland Yacht Race (www.roundirelandyachtrace.ie). The website's overall objective is to allow competitors and followers to stay bang up-to-date with the race. The site allows for real-time updates and imagery to be sent and managed live from the race.

An integrated online and social communications approach has been taken and is supported and integrated directly with Twitter and Facebook. This ensures that race enthusiasts get the latest news and results. The website also features blogs directly from the boats as they battle around the Irish coast for race honours.

The Round Ireland Yacht Race is Ireland’s premier offshore sailing race and is held every two years by Wicklow Sailing Club (WSC) in association with the Royal Ocean Racing Club. This year’s race will start from WSC on Sunday 24th June at 12:00.

The Round Ireland website was designed, developed and hosted by the race’s digital partner, i3 Digital. As one of Ireland’s leading digital technology and communications agencies, i3 Digital have developed an innovative and integrated website for all of the event’s online communications.

Speaking at the launch of the site, WSC Commodore, John Harte, commented:

We are delighted to have Adrian Bradley and his team at i3 Digital onboard. They have pulled out all the stops to bring us up-to-date and give us an easy to use site which allows us to keep the followers of the race up-to-date via the site and on Twitter and Facebook”.

Adrian Bradley, Managing Director of i3 Digital, said:

We have worked hard to give the competitors and followers of the race a fantastic and easy to use website that will be the one port of call for everything to do with the Round Ireland Yacht Race. Kevin and the guys were a joy to work with”.

More innovations will be launched in the coming weeks, so watch this space!
